"So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night"
There's a time and place for everything and our time has come to put this project aside for the time being.
So with a song we bid you adieu.

We're going back in time this month. Way back into the vaults of Viola where we find this gem that has survived for 10+ years without getting captured on tape save for some live renditions.
Some long time Viola friends might remember this one: Saddened Yet Hopeful.
This is the second recorded proverbial fruit of the labour with the six most amazing viola players in Finland that helped us realize Heartstring Theory in June and gave us the most amazing night on Viola's Day 2011. The strings were arranged by Jussi Tuhkanen and played by Jussi, Atte Kilpeläinen, Pisku Ristiluoma, Lilli Maijala, Lotta Poijärvi and Martta Tolonen. Recorded by Ilai Rämä.

Hey everybody! This month we bring you a pretty weird combination of rock, electro and shoegazing. Hope you like it.

August is yet again Finnish indie cover month here at "The Club". This time one of us gets to go all narcissistic as we cover a track off of Tommi's old band, Sissy Spacek.

Wow.
That's all we can say.
This month's track is way way different (even from the previous way way different ones) than any of our previous tracks. This one is just Riku singing with 6 of the most amazing viola-players in the WORLD. Now how cool is that?!

Time to trim your subwoofers for this month's track as we decided to have a crack at some dubstep low end action and freak out a bit sonically.

This month we're going retro and organic. Mellow and profitable.
We present to you a gem from the very dawn of the 21st century, an early Viola gem by the name of The Loners.
This song has never been recorded before, but had it's place in our live sets in the pre-Tearcandy era.

Finland switched off Daylight Saving Time for 2010, so nights start really early again now. You all have a few months before winter snow falls and makes nights a bit lighter again, so there's no better time to gaze wistfully at stars and dream of Urania, the muse of astronomy.
This track might be a suitable option for a soundtrack.

Winter 2010 has been a pretty thorough one in Finland. Especially snow has been quite plentiful and has caused quite a bit of chaos in people's everyday lives, so we decided it deserved a song dedication from us, so we give you a piece of orchestral goodness: Fade To White.

Welcome to a new year of Viola Music Club, y'all!
To acknowledge the huge fact that we're transferring over to a whole new decade (and to put in our 2 cents into the debate whether it's "the two thousand tens" or "the twenty tens"), here's our highly topical and current track about... the new decade, the 2010s!

Season's Greetings to all you Music Clubbers!
As December is stalking upon us, it's time to get merry! Thus we present to you a sequel of sorts to our 2004 Christmas 7": This Year It Will Be Different!

Hi everybody!
To conclude our autumnal triptych of holy melancholy, we present to you a track by the name of No Connection, which might lyrically be one of the darkest Viola tracks yet, so it's fitting we're releasing it on All Hallows' Eve.

Dear friends,
As promised, we're continuing along the fall-time in melancholic tunes. Not as deeply wrapped in seas of sound as last month, but in distinctly autumnal tones.

The opening track of our 2nd album. A hopeful nod to our softer past - before we let out the beasts of Viola post-2005.

The mandatory mid-record weepie. Rhodes with glitchy electronics. Good times.

Our first stab at more hiphop-esque beats. More or less just trying to copy Black Audio. Glad we got them to remix this track for Melancholydisco 2.
Also featured: a speech synthesizer that sounds exactly like J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr.

A slightly surrealistic track where we actually imagined each vocal line as an animal or a muppet of some sort and tried to act them out while singing. The lead line is more or less based around Gonzo from Muppet Show, but there are frogs, pigs, chicken and all sorts of silly things in the backing vocals.

A melancholy-filled ode to the bittersweetness of a lonely Christmas.

The first song on our first long play album. Probably for many people the first (and for some, the last) Viola-track they've heard. The string intro pretty much sets the tone of what's to come - home made dramatics all the way.

Yet another proof of just how essential Esa "Espe" Mikkonen was to the early Viola-sound.

An epic dreampop show closer.

Melancholic three-minute epic that aims high yet falls a little short. Our tribute to Autour De Lucie? Nowadays sometimes played in our acoustic set.

Bouncing pop with surprisingly optimistic lyrics and some mighty double bass drum action. When this was new, we thought it sounded like Eskobar, whatever happened to them? Has allegedly been played in Brazilian radio. Sometimes we play a "rockin'" version of this in our unelectronic electric (phew!) set.

Closing weepie with very vague lyrics. Apparently haunted by the astral spirit of Robert Smith. It grows and grows... and grows some more. The guy who mastered said it sounded like Pink Floyd!

A hymn to all underdogs and sensitive people who stay young no matter what age they are. It found a new home on our acoustic set where it suited better - recorded version became maybe too pompous. A solid tearjerker when all things click.
